Katie Luo
Born and raised in China, she moved to the US and worked as a mechanical engineer and elementary teacher assistant in Chicago. In 2016, Katie Luo embarked on her artistic journey, immersing herself in classes and workshops on the subject of art history of impressionism and studying painting at The School of Art Institute of Chicago. The stunning art and its style influences Katie Luo to explore many different art materials and methods, as well as various subjects, styles, and perspectives. Through years of practice, she investigates the dynamic potential of light and fleeting moments in landscapes, often depicting them in dialogue with her expression of the beauty of nature. Katie Luo formed her style as a contemporary impressionist artist.
“Petal, Leaf & Beauty” presents a series of new paintings by Katie Luo, the nature-inspired artist responding to her ever-evolving observations from travel, hiking and daily experiences. She depicts the energy and sensory experiences of the outdoors, capturing the essence and moods of the connection with nature. Her painting also conveys the inherent natural beauty that guides us to find joy and helps us to celebrate each beautiful moment.
Katie’s artwork has earned coveted awards including Best of Show, Honorable Mention, Judge’s Award of Excellence and Theme of Show, and included in corporation collections and private collections across the United States. By sharing her artwork with others, she strives to empower viewers to pursue their passion and find their impact in the world.
Artist Statement
Embracing the belief that nature is beautiful and precious, I pursue art that evokes emotional responses. My paintings seek to create a window into the inner world to encourage viewers to reflect and connect with their own emotions.

Influenced by impressionism, I use palette knives and brushes to create oil paintings that depict the impermanence and beauty in nature. Through the use of bold, lush colors - the most powerful tool in art to enchant viewers - each brushstroke captures the soft light over the land, fields, the surface of water, and the fleeting moments offering a vibrant, immersive experience of nature.
